  • Rocio Portes-Varas, a Dominican-American born in Queens, New York, to Dominican parents, is the founder of Moca Coffee Co., a certified Minority Woman Business Enterprise. With over 15 years of expertise in sales, business, and the coffee industry, Rocio established the company to celebrate her Dominican heritage and share Latin culture through exceptional coffee and honey. Inspired by her 95-year-old grandmother, Flor, who grew up on a Dominican coffee farm and was the first female entrepreneur in their family, Rocio infuses her work with a deep sense of family, tradition, and community. Alongside her business partner and husband, Marcell, and their daughter, she sources organic, 100% Arabica coffee from the finest farmers in the Cibao region of the Dominican Republic. As a Dominican raised in New York and married to a Cuban, Rocio’s vision for Moca Coffee Co. is to connect communities through authentic, high-quality products that honor her roots and foster equity through initiatives like the nonprofit Educate to Lead.
